Speaker: Mary L. G. Theroux, CEO & Chairman Board of Directors, Independent Institute
We are excited to announce an upcoming event featuring Mary L. G. Theroux from the Independent Institute, who will discuss "Homelessness and Its Solutions." Ms. Theroux serves as the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Chief Executive Officer at the Independent Institute. She holds an A.B. in economics from Stanford University and is the Managing Director of Lightning Ventures, L.P., an investment firm located in the San Francisco Bay Area. Additionally, she is the Vice President of the C.S. Lewis Society of California and has been both the former Chairman and a current member of the Advisory Boards for the San Francisco and Alameda County Salvation Army, having served on the National Advisory Board of The Salvation Army from 2003 to 2022.
With experience as a director for nine corporations and three foundations, Ms. Theroux has held the position of Chairman at Garvey International, Inc., and was the Co-Founder, President, and CEO of San Francisco Grocery Express, Ltd. Her insights and writings have been featured in major publications such as Business Week, Forbes, Savvy, the Los Angeles Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle. Additionally, her articles have appeared in various other outlets, including the Huffington Post, San Francisco Examiner, Visión Hispana, Houston Business Journal, Washington Examiner, San Francisco Business Times, Providence Journal, Tallahassee Democrat, Gallipolis Daily Tribune, San Marcos Daily Record, Union Daily Times, Daily Sentinel, and the Point Pleasant Register.
Ms. Theroux co-authored the book Beyond Homeless: Good Intentions, Bad Outcomes, Transformative Solutions, and produced the related documentary, “Beyond Homeless: Finding Hope.”
