Jennifer Van Laar is one of the country’s leading investigative journalists and Managing Editor of RedState.com. Prior to joining RedState in 2016, she was the Director of Communications and Outreach for Firearms Policy Coalition, worked as a messaging strategist for political candidates, and was a court stenographer in North Carolina for 20 years (experience she believes was foundational for her current career). In addition to breaking the story of former Rep. Katie Hill’s sexual and emotional abuse of her staff, Jennifer’s exclusive stories include Gavin Newsom’s “gifted” mansion and chronically delinquent property taxes, Rep. Ted Lieu’s creative uses for donor dollars, the defection of Dong Jingwei, the head of counterintelligence for the CCP, and the Hunter Biden dossier.
And, of particular interest in Contra Costa County, Jennifer wrote an exclusive series on Soros DA Diana Becton’s attempts to dismantle the county’s criminal justice system.
In spite of the current political climate, Jennifer believes that her native California is worth fighting for and can be saved – and that 2022 is the year that major strides can be made.
Jennifer has been involved in grassroots political activism for nearly three decades, in North Carolina and California, and is President of Simi Valley Moorpark Republican Women Federated. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Boston University in 2016 (after taking 24 years off to raise a family) and is the mother of three boys and grandmother of one gorgeous girl.
