Williamson M. Evers - The Root Cause of California's Failing Schools

Evers is a Senior Fellow, Director of the Center on Educational Excellence, and Assistant Editor for The Independent Review: A Journal of Political Economy at the Independent Institute. Dr. Evers was the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Education for Planning, Evaluation, and Policy Development from 2007 to 2009; Senior Adviser to U.S. Secretary of Education Margaret Spellings during 2007; and former Research Fellow at the Hoover Institution. In addition, he was a member of the Hoover Institution’s Koret Task Force on K-12 Education from its beginning in 1999 until it wrapped up in 2014. From July to December 2003, he served in Iraq as Senior Adviser for Education to Administrator L. Paul Bremer of the Coalition Provisional Authority.

Dinner Buffet: Choice of chicken or prawns w garlic butter sauce pasta. Note: email [email protected] to confirm choice. Default is chicken if nothing selected. Caesar salad, fresh vegetable medley, French/garlic bread. Note: BYOB/Wine + bottle opener/glasses

*Note: Due to catering requirements, the final RSVP deadline is February 3, 3pm. Accommodations will cost extra fees that our club cannot accommodate at this time. 


Fundraising Opportunities 

 
Opportunity Drawing - This fundraiser will offer 6 bottles of wine plus a $25 See's gift certificate. Total value is approximately $200. Tickets are available at the meeting by cash or check - 5 tickets for $20 or 2 tickets for $10. There will be one winner.   
Wine Donation - We are again asking our members to donate a bottle of wine at this meeting to help with our opportunity drawing fundraisers.  The bottle should be valued please at a minimum of $25 and to have been stored properly to ensure freshness.  Please ensure that you provide your bottle of wine to those at check-in so we may provide appropriate recognition. Thanks to all who are willing to help MDRC in this way! Our opportunity drawings of wine have been extremely successful in 2022, and we look forward to raising funds in this way again during 2023.
