Monday, April 15th we present our annual "Tips for Change" fundraiser at Gianni's Italian Bistro, San Ramon.
Note: BOTH DINE-IN AND TAKE OUT ARE AVAILABLE BETWEEN 4:30 - 8 PM on Monday, April 15th.
To make your reservation or place your order, follow these instructions. Note: Table Leads only will make the table reservation by going online to:
- https://www.yelp.com/reservations/giannis-italian-bistro-san-ramon?from_reserve_now=1 or calling (925) 820-6969 and providing the number of guests. Tables up to 10 can be accommodated, and in some cases additional guests can be seated. Contact Gianni's at the number above to secure a larger table.
- Explain to your table guests that they should coordinate their attendance with you only, the Table Lead. They should not contact Gianni's except for the below.
- For online orders for takeout, click the "order online" button at the top, then click on delivery or pickup. Please note delivery is limited, but can be made available. Be sure to click on the appropriate date, then choose your items and your desired time. The menu is provided below for your help in identifying in advance what you might be interested in ordering. Wine and cocktails are available for take out.
- You may consider making a dine-in reservation and also ordering takeout to enjoy the next day at home.

Youth as the Proxy War for the Republic - Pacific Justice Institute

Pacific Justice Institute - Kevin Snider
Kevin Snider has been an attorney since 1994. During that time he has practiced primarily in the area of constitutional law and civil rights. Snider has litigated a number of cases which have garnered national attention. These include two in the U.S. Supreme Court – A Woman’s Friend v. Kamala Harris and Gateway City Church v. Gavin Newsom.
He argued In re Jonathan L. before the California Court of Appeal which resulted in restoring the right to homeschool in California. In Michael Newdow v. LeFevre, he argued in defense of the national motto – In God We Trust – in front of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Days before the January 2009 swearing in of President Obama, Snider represented Pastors Rick Warren and Joseph Lowery in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia in which he successfully argued against the request for an injunction to prevent the invocation and benediction at the inauguration.
He has been the Chief Counsel for the Pacific Justice Institute since 2004. He has been seen on CSPAN and CNN, has made dozens of radio and television appearances, and is interviewed frequently or quoted in newspapers and other publications.
Snider is admitted to the Washington, California, and District of Columbia Bars. His wife, Chenyuan, is a regular contributing writer for The Stream. They have two children and reside in northern California.

Susan Tully, FAIR - Federation for American Immigration Reform
FAIR seeks to reduce overall immigration to a more normal level. Reducing legal immigration levels from well over one million at present to a very generous 300,000 a year over a sustained period will allow America to manage growth, address environmental concerns, and maintain a high quality of life. FAIR puts the interests of American citizens and future generations ahead of big business and partisan demands.
Susan joined the FAIR staff in 2002. She is a former business owner, manager for municipal code enforcement, and immigration coordinator for the Coalition of Government Officials (Southern California). Susan manages FAIR's Law Enforcement Relations Program. She develops members’ and activists’ support and educates the media and public on immigration issues. Susan works with Sheriffs and law enforcement officials around the country to form a coalition to fight to secure our nation’s borders and uphold the rule of law.
Susan is a graduate of Viterbo University in Lacrosse, Wisconsin, the wife of a Catholic Deacon, the mother of 6 grown children, and the grandmother of 16. She is a private pilot, and holds certifications for sailing vessels up to 50’, and in her spare time, loves to travel.

Mary L.G. Theroux is Chairman of the Board of Directors, and Chief Executive Officer, of the Independent Institute. Having received her A.B. in economics from Stanford University,
Ms. Theroux is Managing Director of Lightning Ventures, L.P., a San Francisco Bay Area investment firm, and Vice President of the C.S. Lewis Society of California. She is former Chairman and current member of the Advisory Boards of the San Francisco Salvation Army and the Alameda County Salvation Army, and served on the National Advisory Board of The Salvation Army from 2003-2022.
Having been a director of nine corporations and three foundations, Ms. Theroux was also Chairman of Garvey International, Inc., and Co-Founder, President, and CEO of San Francisco Grocery Express, Ltd.
Articles on Ms. Theroux have appeared in Business Week, Forbes, Savvy, Los Angeles Times, San Francisco Chronicle, and other publications. Paul Kunkel - Law Enforcement Veteran, Consultant, Mental Health Advocate
Mr. Kunkel is a twenty seven year law enforcement veteran who recently spent over a year contracting with the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office in the position of Executive Correctional Consultant, acting as an interim Assistant Sheriff overseeing the Corrections Division (2 jails, 1,100 inmates), the Court Security and Transportation Bureau, and the Civil Bureau.
Mr. Kunkel is currently a consultant and lives in Northern California with his wife and daughter.

Phillip Magness - Senior Fellow, Independent Institute & the David J. Theroux Chair in Political Economy
Phillip Magness has served as Senior Research Fellow at the American Institute for Economic Research, and as Academic Program Director at the Institute for Humane Studies and Adjunct Professor of Public Policy in the School of Public Policy and Government at George Mason University. He received his Ph.D. from George Mason University’s School of Public Policy.
His books include The 1619 Project: A Critique, Colonization after Emancipation: Lincoln and the Movement for Black Resettlement (with Sebastian N. Page) and The Rules of the Game: How Government Works and Why it Sometimes Doesn’t (with Paul Weissburg), and Cracks in the Ivory Tower: The Moral Mess of Higher Education (with Jason Brennan).
Dr. Magness’s scholarly articles and reviews have appeared in The Independent Review, Journal of Markets and Morality, Journal of Private Enterprise, Journal of Supreme Court History, Journal of the History of Economic Thought, North Carolina Historical Review, Reviews in History, Journal of the Abraham Lincoln Association, Journal of Southern History, Journal of Business Ethics, Civil War History, Register of the Kentucky Historical Society, Virginia Magazine of History, Liberal Education, Slavery & Abolition, Journal of the Early Republic, and Constitutional Political Economy.
